Abstract
Starting from the presentation that the author made of the book by Manuel Cruz, El Gran Apagón (Galaxia Gutenberg, 2022), the reasons that led the Catalan philosopher, as a philosopher on duty, to become a passerby of politics are investigated, with the assumption of the presidency of the Spanish Senate in 2019. Some reasons that are traced in his previous work that since the beginning of the eighties of the 20th century tries to take note of both the criticisms (analytical and postmodern) and the irreversible historical facts (Stalinism and collapse of real socialism). But this does not mean renouncing the rationalism that takes root in ethics to combat from politics the new monsters that proliferate when reason dreams.
