Phenomenology and psychiatry. On an Stimmung’s intrinsic division

Abstract

It is discussed here some difficulties of ‘phenomenological psychiatry’ in direct relation to the apprehension of ‘psychic’ or ‘mental’ pathologies within a ‘normality’ model derived from the 19th century psychology of philosophical inspiration. From the Freudian ‘suspicion’, the studies of Binswanger's mental pathologies and the analysis of some nuclear problems on Husserlian passive synthesis, Richir intends to explore a new ‘path’, beyond the limits of phenomenological psychiatry, which includes the forms of temporalization and spatialization that function in the pathological ‘flections’ of Dasein. It tries to systematically relate the Husserlian temporalization/spatialization, understood as passive synthesis, with the philosophy of affectivity, of the Heideggerian Befindlichkeit, which brings into play the dimension of a passivity primary of the Dasein, understood under the sign of facticity. The detailed commentary on the famously §29 of Being and Time, aims to grasp the transcendental matrix of the internal division of the Stimmung and Verstimmung and, also, to show, on one hand, how a certain articulation of what Husserl calls passive synthesis of temporalization with Stimmung and Heideggerian Befindlichkeit can be achieved and, on the other, a possible way of articulation between normal Stimmungen and pathological Verstimmungen, that is, of an internal division to the Stimmung that makes possible at least the pathological version in the Verstimmung.
