Phenomenology of the space of landscape: an embodied space

Abstract

The notion of landscape appears as the paradigm of a transcendental mode of constitution more particularly studied by an asubjective and non-objectal phenomenology: (Straus, Patočka, Maldiney, Merleau-Ponty, Richir, Garelli). It is no longer a phenomenology of perception: the landscape in its irreducibility to a space of positive perception or mimetic representation is apprehended as a pathic and not gnosic level of experience. It is an incarnated original space that can be felt but not perceived by a suspension of the symbolic references orienting the natural attitude. The constitution of this space can fail, especially in some psychopathological cases like schizophrenia.
