Abstract
In Philosophical Controversies, Dr. Juan Guitart Boixader, a physician and restless thinker, proposes an ambitious work of synthesis and critical analysis that articulates the effort to comprehensively understand the world, from logical rigor to metaphysical speculation. This work reveals the need to recover philosophy as a critical forum in the face of scientism, materialistic dogmatism, and the trivialization of reason in times of post-truth. The author bravely takes on a double challenge: on the one hand, to bring scientific and philosophical knowledge into dialogue; on the other, to reclaim the legitimacy of the question of truth and meaning in the face of this climate of growing relativism and intellectual fragmentation. His background as a physician brings a unique sensitivity to this endeavor: that of a scientist who recognizes himself limited by positive methods and yet does not renounce asking fundamental questions, even those that contemporary science often considers «metaphysical» or «unproductive».
