Abstract
The following brief notes, devoted to the experience we call «excess», aim to account for the phenomenon of the «own body», as opposed to the body-thing (Körper). «Excess» also refers to the «quasi-mystical» relationship of intersubjectivity, as well as to that «phenomenological field» stabilized by the Stiftungen, the symbolic institutions in which excess crystallizes and is embodied, without, however, being exhausted or resolved within them. This «phenomenological field» thus reveals itself, extending its reach to its limits. The «body as excess» reveals its own corporeality (Leiblichkeit), as well as, intermittently, the schematisms in or through which «thought» seeks the stabilizing meaning of its own excess. «Excess» is not only that of Leib, but also that of the Lebenswelt, of the world, of the lifeworld. Everything exceeds us, and we are the embodiment of this «excess» - not of the mundane, but of the World. Ultimately, the unconscious, which manifests itself intermittently in this way, allows itself to be grasped, archaic and sublime, precisely for what it is: excess itself.
