Abstract
This is a presentation of a special issue in Eikasia, a philosophy journal, concerned about the topic of the border, the frontier, and the otherness. The subject is considered from many points of view. We do start with the inner limitations pertaining any act of meaning. We shall continue reflecting on the frontier in the context of our contemporary societies. Moreover, such frontiers happen to be enhanced by the media (cinema and television are the two examples that will be examined). Another group of articles deal with the relation between humanity and parts of nature that haven’t been yet “civilized”. We finally introduce to the last set of contributions: these tackle the subject of borders – in its various declinations – from literature, from its very gesture of distance, recreation and consequent intensification of the narrated.
