Abstract
This review assesses the Spanish edition of Matter and Motion by James Clerk Maxwell, published in the “Classics of Science and Technology” series and translated by José Manuel Sánchez Ron. Particular attention is given to Sánchez Ron’s introduction, which places the work within the broader history of science and presents Maxwell as one of the key architects of modern physics. The volume offers insight into the Scottish scientist’s pedagogical approach and his major contributions to electromagnetism, statistical physics, and the concept of the field, all of which played a decisive role in shaping contemporary scientific thought and later developments in physics.
