The borders of biopolitics within abortion’s debate

Abstract

The aim of the following article is to show the biopolitical notions for abortion’s right. This approachment can actually be traced by the interpretation of life, which is a philosophical and theological discussion, that determines the structure of the State and their laws. The biopolitical notions have change through history and the actual neoliberalism framework, supports the discussion between the Prolife and Proelection's position.

The interdiction of abortion legal status has biopolitical consequences. In one hand, for the woman who chooses the abortion; the interdiction let her in exception state where their rights are attempted, and on the other hand, for the woman who decided not to abort, in spite of her desire, her body becomes a place of the public space and the function of her body becomes merely instrumental.

In the limit of these two positions, we must open and extend the space the question for the women’s desire and the reappropriation of her body and her decisions.
