Truth or interpretations? Gadamer versus Nietzsche

Abstract

This article evaluates the Nietzschean denial of truth from the linguistic turn of Gadamer’s hermeneutics. At this aim, first, we will discover the philosophical mediations of the Gadamerian interpretation of Nietzsche. Subsequently, we will articulate the sense given by both authors to issues of common interest, in order to delimit their respective conceptions of «interpretation». We will conclude that the ascription of the thought of Nietzsche to hermeneutics of suspicion and Gadamer’s to hermeneutics of trust does not do justice to their complex intentions.
