Abstract

On February 8, 2013, at the age of eighty-eight, the philosopher José Gómez Caffarena died in Madrid, a thinker who does not deserve to be forgotten. His work represented a great modernizing impulse in the Spanish philosophical debate. An impulse that still has a long way to go, especially as it affects practical philosophy, so central today due to the challenges that our complex societies and the spectacular development of technoscience pose to us. From admiration and horror to action and hope. Anthropology and ethics by José Gómez Caffarena is the title of the work in which I read the thoughts of the Madrid author from contemporary problems by putting him in dialogue with the most representative philosophies of the 20th-21st century, such as: postmodernism, structuralism or neo-positivism. This article gives a generic vision, although we hope it is sufficiently deep and understandable, of the ethical project contained in the complex Caffarenian philosophy.
