Abstract
Marginalization is a form of exclusion and exists institutionalized in the educational field as a continuous social practice. But what is exclusion and what can be done with it? The first is a question of ontological type, which is not the purpose of this essay to respond in a definitive way but only highlight its link with education, and more properly with the practices of educational research in the valuable moment of their products. The second question is more technical and operational: exclusion is something you that can be practiced, taken as a conversation, played, justified, belittled, ignored, located ethnographically or quantified statistically, among other possibilities.
People always make choices (paradigmatic, theoretical, conceptual, etc.) and electing something usually excludes the unelected. With support of the theory of social practices of Pierre Bourdieu (Gutiérrez, 2005), it is intended to illustrate empirically how institutionalized reason is exclusive per se, which are taken as empirical referents the opinions of two educational journals, and some papers not accepted in the XI National Congress of Educational Research of the Mexican Council of Educational Research.
