Abstract

The Marc Richir´s phenomenology approaches the limits of art, without, however, the philosopher has been concerned with a historical inquiry concerning the work of art. This article constitutes a critical effort to more accurately outline this historical dimension that, we shall see, is fundamentally symbolic. This symbolic dimension, which goes through the hardness, duration and durability in the context of the technique, will open the way for an inquiry of three fundamental institutions of art: mythical institution, philosophical-aesthetic institution and pluralist institution, the latter corresponding to contemporary art. The artistic pluralism demonstrates a volatilization of art that is coextensive of the predominance of the imagination, and therefore evidences a decadence of the phenomenological vivacity and a primacy of 179 the psychological. Only a phenomenological anthropology of art would know the consequences of this predominance of the imaginary, fix its architectural place and open a critical horizon as limited as necessary.
