Abstract
In this paper it is consider the Cassirer’s project of reconstruction of the unity of reason. Starts with some remarks on Cassirer’s interpretation about the Kantian distinction between sensibility and understanding. In a second place, it is exposed the outlines of his first attempt of unification, restricted to mathematics and physics, exhibited in his great epistemological work of 1910, Substance and Function. Then, the work it is focused on some aspects of the Philosophy of Symbolic Forms, trying to show the continuity with the early project. To finish, it is critically discussed some of Habermas’s opinions on Cassirer’s conception.
