Abstract
In this paper we will speak about how metaphors are used
to justify wars. Metaphors structure our thought, as Lakoff
and Johnson proposed in their cognitive theory of
metaphor. We will see the Lakoff'ʹs ideas about how
metaphors were used to justify Irak war in the 90s and we
will try to apply these ideas to the justification of Irak war in
the 2000s. We will try to figure out what kind of information
is hidden by these metaphors and what kind of ideas are
suggested by these concrete metaphors.
