The inversion of Clausewitz’s aphorism. Foucault, reader of Nietzsche and Boulainvilliers

Abstract

This   essay   focuses   on   the   analysis   that   Foucault   did   of   the

relation   between   the   power,   the   history   and   the   war   in   a

course  that  this  author  gave  in  1976,  and  whose  original  title

was   “Il   faut   défendre   la   société…

”.   We   will   pay   particular

attention   to   the   influence   that   on   this   analysis   there   had

Nietzsche   and   Boulainvilliers,   which   served   Foucault   to

indicate  the  major  features  of  an  interpretation  of  the  paper

of   the   war   in   the   history   of   sign   opposite   to   that   of

Clausewitz'ʹs  famous  aphorism.
