Política y artificio. Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz y la alegoría barroca

Abstract

In this article, my purpose is to analyze the intellectual ground in which grows the work of Juana Inés de la Cruz, especially her Neptuno alegórico. I search a direct link for this text with the most outcoming political thought of european Barroco. Thus, and despite of some remarks made by Octavio Paz in his book about sor Juana, it can be said that her works belong to a current of thought that, without any doubt, build up the philosophical avant-garde of XVIIth century Europe. This is why it can be said that the philosophy written in Spanish in this period, or at least some of it, is not outside the european intellectual space of XVIIth century.
