Abstract
What is the relationship between a philosopher and their time? When can we say that an intellectual is truly contemporary? This text seeks to demonstrate that both dissemination of philosophical ideas and the theoretical proposals of Pelayo Pérez operate within the framework opened by these questions. Rather than presupposing a parallel or merely reflective relationship between the philosopher and their time, the discussion emphasizes a necessary gap that must animate that relationship, allowing philosophy to position itself as a guiding force for its era. In this sense, Pelayo Pérez’s work will be examined as an example of a productive activity that operates within the fissures of the present.
